Can Speed Search search ASP and CGI scripts?
Yes it can, however it will not display data that the scripts would display dynamically (after the scripts have been processed). It will only read and display what you can see in the scripts when you view them in a text editor before uploading them.

Does Speed Search work on pages generated by Build a FAQ?
Yes, your visitors can use either Speed Search or the search engine built in to Build a FAQ Plus, or both. Speed Search will link to the FAQ pages, the Build A FAQ search engine will display matching questions and answers.
-
Will Speed Search search server-side includes embedded in HTML pages?
Speed Search reads the HTML files as they appear on your server before they are parsed. It will skip over SSI tags and ASP tags.
-
Does Speed Search search Acrobat pdf documents?
No at this stage, Speed Search will only search flat text files. PDF files are binary files.
-
Should I use an indexed or live search?
If you have less than 50 (ASCII) files that are being searched, you should use a live search. This will ensure search results are always up to date. With so few files, there will not be a discernible delay is search processing times.
-
When and how should I update indexed searches?
You should update your indexed database each time you add new files. Whether you update after each new file or after ten new files is up to you.
If you've added new files to existing folders :
Simply click on the "Update now" link found half way down the admin settings page
If you've added new files and new folders :
First you must click on the "Rebuild Tree" tree link found about half way down the admin settings page. Remove folders that should not be searched from the "Folders to search" text box and submit the form. Then click on the "Update now" link to update your database.
