What is Upload Gold?
Upload Gold is a client file manager allowing you to limit and control uploads to your server. Your clients or web site visitors sign up as members and may then upload files to their allocated folder. Users can then log in and manage their own folder and files. As the administrator, you control folder size limits and the look and feel of the Sign up and File Upload forms.
Upload Gold has been designed to function as a Client File Manager or Community File Sharing system. How it functions is controlled by you and the preferences you set in the Web Administrative Section. With an easy to understand settings area, and easy auto-installation you have total control over the program.

- User sign up or Add users via admin section.
You specify whether users can register themselves or not by selecting "Yes" or "No" in the admin settings.
- Public Member name and file listings.
If set to "Yes", public Upload Page will display a link that takes the your visitor to a full list of members. Each member name then leads to that members full list of files.
- Auto creates and updates member's index file.
Each time a user uploads or deletes a file, their index page is automatically updated. The index page is built using your header and footer, so the entire system can fit in with your web site's look and feel.
- Personalized Autoresponders.
Enter and modify the e-mail message sent to clients / members when a file is uploaded. Using the special markers, you can customize and personalize both the member's message and your own.
- Enter file types accepted.
You can set which file types you accept, or simply enter the "ALL" keyword to accept all file types.
- Control member's folder sizes.
As a top level administrator, you specify each user's disk space. User profiles are created using the default disk space level you set, you can then update individual sizes by editing a user's profile.
- Edit or delete member profiles.
User profiles can be edited or deleted by the two top levels of admin. Note, when building and using your own custom upload forms, only the default fields are recorded to a user's profile.
- Edit HTML source code.
If using the default upload and sign up forms, you can customize the look and feel.
- Translate to another language.
Powerful feature that allows you to customize just about and label, link or text for both the front and back end. Ideal for translating the scripts to another language or simply making the program a little more user friendly.
- Three levels of administration.
Top level admin has access to all functions. Second level admin has access to all functions except the program's settings, third level admin (users) have access to their folder management features only.
- Suspend uploads, switch on / off.
Going away for a while? Need to prevent uploads? No problem, switch off upload access, until you're ready.
- Switch on / off auto e-mail notifications.
Send completely personalized and customized autoresponders to both yourself and the uploader. This is an amazing feature that allows you to make use of any form field in e-mail notifications.
- Members may log in and administrator their folder.
Users (third level admin) may log in update, rename or delete their files. File management has never been this easy.
- Prevents overwrites by renaming new files, switch on / off.
Our overwrite prevention feature ensures a file is never inadvertently overwritten. However if you'd like your users to be able to overwrite their own files, simply set the program to allow overwrites.
- Compatible with Windows, Unix, Linux, Sun, BSDOS and OSX Mac servers.
This script has been tested and will function on all Windows and Unix servers with a cgi-bin.
Additional Notes
Upload Gold's smart rename feature, which can be switched off, ensures an uploaded file will never be overwritten. If image.gif is already in a members directory, the new file will be renamed to image1.gif. Files can be viewed and sorted in either chronological or alphabetical order.
Upload Gold has been successfully tested on dozens of web sites with files as large as 950 megabytes. Our latest edits have improved upload speed on both WINDOWS and UNIX servers. The Main or Super administrator can control default folder sizes and several other options via the admin settings page and suspend the program's functionality if a client's (Subordinate Admin) payments are overdue. You may also completely customize the front end by editing HTML source code, setting form field widths and also have the option to use a Custom header and footer.
